1-:  To My Mother

Mom Poems in English

Because I feel that, in the Heavens above,

The angels, whispering to one another,

Can find, among their burning terms of love,

None so devotional as that of “Mother,”

Therefore by that dear name I long have called you—

You who are more than mother unto me,

And fill my heart of hearts, where Death installed you,

In setting my Virginia’s spirit free.

My mother—my own mother, who died early,

Was but the mother of myself; but you

Are mother to the one I loved so dearly,

And thus are dearer than the mother I knew

By that infinity with which my wife

Was dearer to my soul than its soul-life.

If I were hanged on the highest hill,

Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!

I know whose love would follow me still,

Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!

If I were drowned in the deepest sea,

Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!

I know whose tears would come down to me,

Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!

If I were damned of body and soul,

I know whose prayers would make me whole,

Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!

3-Mom Poems in English: My Mother

Who sat and watched my infant head,

When sleeping on my cradle bed,

And tears of sweet affection shed?

My Mother.

When pain and sickness made me cry,

Who gazed upon my heavy eye,

And wept for fear that I should die?

My Mother.

Who taught my infant lips to pray,

And love God’s holy book and day,

And walk in wisdom’s pleasant way?

My Mother.

And can I ever cease to be

Affectionate and kind to thee,

Who wast so very kind to me,

My Mother?

Ah, no! the thought I cannot bear,

And if God please my life to spare

I hope I shall reward thy care,

My Mother.

When thou art feeble, old, and gray,

My healthy arm shall be thy stay,

And I will soothe thy pains away,

My Mother.

4- Mother to Son

Mom Poems in English

Well, son, I’ll tell you:

Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

It’s had tacks in it,

And splinters,

boards torn up,

And places with no carpet on the floor—

Bare.

But all the time

I’se been a-climbin’ on,

And reachin’ landin’s,

turnin’ corners,

And sometimes goin’ in the dark

Where there ain’t been no lig

So, boy, don’t you turn back.

Don’t you set down on the steps.

‘Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.

Don’t you fall now—

For I’se still goin’, honey,

I’se still climbin’,

And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

5-Mom Poems in English:  I Remember, I Remember

I remember, I remember,

The house where I was born,

The little window where the sun

Came peeping in at morn;

He never came a wink too soon,

Nor brought too long a day,

But now, I often wish the night

Had borne my breath away!

I remember, I remember,

The roses, red and white,

The vi’lets, and the lily-cups,

Those flowers made of light!

The lilacs where the robin built,

And where my brother set

The laburnum on his birthday,—

The tree is living yet!

I remember, I remember,

Where I was used to swing,

And thought the air must rush as fresh

To swallows on the wing;

My spirit flew in feathers then,

That is so heavy now,

And summer pools could hardly cool

The fever on my brow!

I remember, I remember,

The fir trees dark and high;

I used to think their slender tops

Were close against the sky:

It was a childish ignorance,

But now ’tis little joy

To know I’m farther off from Heaven

Than when I was a boy.

6- Ode To My Mother

A life with you is a life worth living

Even at your worst

you still made me feel better

Every moment with you

is a moment worth reliving,

For better or worse

You are the only love of my life.

I haven’t been taking the time

to appreciate you

as I should have,

Your whole life has been sacrificed

for my security and my comfort,

And there is not a day that goes by

where I fail to realize that.

Every breath you take

is for my happiness and safety

and for that

I owe you my life

I promise to love you for the rest of my life.

Your love and dedication

have shaped me into the person I am today

You’ve made no mistakes, you’re pure perfection

All of my flaws are my fault

for all the times I have hurt you

I want to deeply apologize

for all of my life.

I am unable to repay

all the actions you’ve taken

to keep me safe,

to give me warmth,

make me experience love,

to mold me into who I am,

So in return,

for everything that I’ve accomplished

I will dedicate it to your name.

You’ve been so caring and understanding

and you’ve never wrongfully accused me of anything,

Your patience is limitless

You always take an extra step to clean up my mess

I will be forever grateful

for everything you’ve done for me.

Thank You, Mom

For letting me take my first steps

And for teaching me how to spread my wings,

Your endeavors will be indented on my heart

for you will always be known as

The Most Important Person In My Life.

7- The Guiding Light

The beautiful maddening world surrounds,

With the usual din, and a thousand sounds.

Lost in my thoughts, flowing with the crowd,

In My Space, alone unbowed.

This time is priceless as I float downstream,

Just me and myself, the freedom to dream.

Oblivious to the unknown faces around,

As this river radiates a spirit, leaving me spellbound.

Past life flashes as I float down the Nile,

I relive those moments with a smile.

The good and the ugly, rise and fall,

I feel fortunate to have seen it all.

The lessons from the past and the tales of old,

Teach me to make decisions, right and bold.

As I think of what the future might hold,

Throwing caution to the winds, I let it unfold.

I see the flashes of the people close to my heart,

People who have stood by right from the start.

They may be far and they may be few,

But they give me the reason to live life anew.

With a shove of an elbow, I land in the present,

Back to this world, so iridescent.

With my mind made up, I lift my voice,

To see the glass half full, I make a choice.

As the flood of thoughts engulfs my mind,

The past, present and future seem entwined.

Going around in this maze of time,

Blurring the boundaries of the changing clime.

Through this haze, I see The Guiding Light,

Tearing through this maze of space and time.

Taking me to a plane far beyond,

Where I see myself, holding the guiding wand.

8- Mother’s Hands

 would moisturize

my face from jaw inward

the days she had too

much on her hands

when what needed

to come through

did or didn’t show.

she still shone, still made

smooth her every rough

edge, heel to brow.

hugged my temples

with slick hands,

as if to say son be mine

if to say this i give you

as if to say we are people

color of good oak but we

will not burn, we survive

every fire without becoming

Ash.

Help me Lord now to teach

Do not let my child be out of reach

Keep me strong, guide me to my best

Hold tight the boundaries, that they test

Let them grow to Old and Wise

Do not let a mistake be their demise

Not thinking, the danger in immediate pleasure

Help me show my Love, let them know they are my Treasure

Bring us together on common ground

Keep the body safe, the mind sound

Let them grow to understand

Lord keep them in your Loving hand
